About

I'm especially interested in creating illusionary pencil art, and I strive to challenge the viewer's perception of reality. My work is inspired by the idea that our minds can be tricked by optical illusions, and I aim to use this phenomenon to create visually striking pieces that leave a lasting impression. I am fascinated by the way that seemingly unrelated shapes and lines can come together to create a cohesive image, which I hope makes people question their perception of reality and think outside of the box.

Ball

I wanted to create a ball that is popping out of the paper. This was one of my first projects so I didn't have a lot of experience with perspective, but I think it turned out pretty well.

"Liminal Space"

Hand

The work I have created is a drawing that depicts a view of two entrances, each with its own sense of mystery and uncertainty. On the left side of the drawing, there is an entrance to a hallway, but the view is limited, and we cannot see far into it. The hallway continues into darkness, with another doorway that remains hidden and unknown. On the right side, there is a staircase, but its destination is also obscured, leaving us with a sense of ambiguity. The drawing itself has a rugged and unfinished quality, perhaps reflecting the transient nature of liminal spaces.

The warm earthy tones of brown signify stability, grounding, and a connection to the physical realm. In the context of liminal space, it represents the solid foundation or starting point from which change occurs. Yellow and orange, on the other hand, bring elements of brightness, illumination, and energy. They suggest the potential for something different or exciting about to occur within the liminal space. By primarily using these colors, the artwork captures the dynamic nature of liminality.

To create this work, I utilized a combination of pencil and watercolor pencils. The pencil was used for the initial sketch, providing the foundation for the walls and doorways. The watercolor pencils allowed me to add layers of color and texture, primarily using warm earthy tones of brown, yellow, and orange. These colors were carefully chosen to enhance the theme of liminal space.

Initially I made the mistake of rushing the outline of the doorways, causing a rugged look, which prompted me to restart the project. However, after looking at it more I realized this depicts the transient nature of liminal spaces, so I kept it and continued adding little details that add to the unfinished look.
